Teach the sound of each alphabetical letter from 26 different boards. The letter is carved into the wood so the child can trace the letter with their finger. One single painted object is shown on the board that begins with the letter sound on that board. NOTE: Letter X is shown with a box since the sound for X is typically at the end of a word in the English language.  (Say the sounds for c and s, together to produce the X sound.
 
Point to the painted object and say the what the picture is: a-apple, etc. , then trace the letter a with your finger and say the sound for a...now let the child have a turn. Repeat this process with each letter sound you introduce. (NOTE: with your order you will receive a paper copy of how to present the letter sounds. Child can also place a paper over the carved letter and rub with a crayon or fat pencil and produce the image onto the paper. Give child a picture (from internet or child draws), so the child can glue on the rubbed paper. Child can then practice tracing the rubbed letter, while producing the sound of the letter, and then saying what the picture is.
