 Sennacherib hears that Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, is coming to fight him.He sends a message to King Hezekiah of Judah, warning him not to trust in God’s protection, citing the destruction of other nations and their gods.

  • Hezekiah receives the threatening letter and goes to the Temple of the Lord.

  • He prays earnestly, acknowledging God as the creator and ruler of all kingdoms.

  • He asks God to hear Sennacherib’s blasphemy and to deliver Judah so that all nations will know the Lord is the true God.

  • The prophet Isaiah sends word to Hezekiah: God has heard his prayer.

  • Isaiah delivers a powerful prophecy against Sennacherib, declaring that:

    • He will not enter Jerusalem.

    • He will return to his land.

    • God will defend the city for His own sake and for David’s sake.

    • That night, the Angel of the Lord strikes down 185,000 Assyrian soldiers.
